History

               The history of the choir began with the appearance of vocal ensemble in 1949-1950 academic year, directed by Nikolay Orlov. The first director of choir (1950-1957) was Artemy Lebedinsky. From 1968 to 2003 – the art director and main conductor of the choir – honored worker of culture of Russia Vladimir IZYUMENKO. In 1974, for the skill and concert activity choir got the title of National collective of Russia, in 1975, the choir became the laureate of the Gorky Regional Committee of the Komsomol.

Continiously participated in the cultural life of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the choir  successfully carry out visits to festivals and competitions in cities of Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Petrozavodsk, Kazan, Izhevsk, Ivanovo, Sarov) and abroad (Spain, Italy, Hungary, Austria, China). The choir has repeatedly been thewinner of international, Russian and regional choir competitions and festivals; also awarded the diploma of the Bolshoi Theater. Over the years, talented artists have contributed to the choir development as choirmasters: Nikolai Pokrovsky, Tatiana Kuratov, Lilia Pronin, Galina Bobkova, Ludmila Kochurov, Tatiana Andreeva, Eugene Mitenkin, etc.hor-1

In the period 1970-1980-s, choir participated in concerts with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestra of the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory (Cantata “Moscow” by Tchaikovsky, stage performance of the opera “Aleko” and the cantata “Spring” by Rachmaninov, Mass D – dur by Mozart, “Stabat mater” by E. Axman).

larisa_erykalova_smallAt spring, 2009 choir had the honor to perform in the Great Hall of St. Petersburg State Philharmonic at the International Choral Festival, dedicated to Russia independence Day. At autumn, 2009 on the stage of the Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic cantata by G. Sviridov “Poem in memory of S. Esenin” was performed  together with the Academic Symphoniс Orchestra and Chamber Choir “Nizhny Novgorod”. In 2010 the choir has began to cooperate with the Municipal Chamber Orchestra “Soloists of Nizhny Novgorod” (F. Poulenc «Gloria»).

Since 2003 art director and main conductor of the choir – graduate of the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory by name of M.I.Glinka (V. Izyumenko Class), the holder of a special diploma «Best Conductor» of IV Russian University Choirs Festival «Gaudeamus» (2006), the holder of a diploma «Best Conductor» of the 1st International choir assemblies EURASIA CANTAT (2011),  the holder of a diploma «Best Conductor» of the International Choral and Folklore Music Festival SLOVAKIA CANTAT (2013), Laureate of Nizhny Novgorod Award (2010)
